The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests are providing one large tree for the West Lawn and 70+ smaller companion trees to adorn offices throughout Washington, D.C. for the 2020 holiday season. That means many decorations! Help us reach our goal of providing 10,000 handmade ornaments from Colorado. Consider hosting an event in your community, making ornaments on your own or attending an already-scheduled event this year.
3,000 Large Ornaments: These will decorate the outdoor U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree in 2020. Ornaments should be made from lightweight, durable materials such as wood, metals or recycled materials. They should be 9 to 12 inches in size, colorful, reflective and weatherproof to withstand snow, rain and ice.
7,000 Small Ornaments: These ornaments will decorate the indoor trees throughout federal buildings. Ornaments should be 4 to 6 inches, lightweight and colorful.
Host an Ornament-Making Event:
Anyone can host an event! An event is described as an opportunity for many people to participate on a designated time and place to make ornaments.

Advertise. Spread the word with flyers, press releases, and social media posts. Please send this information to the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests as well so we can help spread the word.
During the event, make as many ornaments as you can!
